Qibao Garden CityA TOD lifestyle center in Hangzhou — open views, joyful living

Sitting directly above Qibao Station on Hangzhou Metro Line 1, Qibao Garden City is a key part of the Qibao TOD hub. Completed on 30 September 2021, it created a new regional vitality centre for the Genbei new town. team+ won the international competition in 2017 against Gensler, Aedas and LWK & Partners.

The concept “Cloud Valley, Nine Streams / Enjoy Life” draws on the designer's own Hangzhou upbringing — the tea hills and the Nine Streams, and the city's preference for a gentle, unhurried way of life. Because the surrounding blocks are dense, a stepped section forms an urban canyon at the main entrance, tied to an elevated green gallery and the metro station.

Above that entrance sits the “City Eye” — a large transparent grille LED screen that shows the activity inside by day and becomes the focus of the neighbourhood at night. Opened with a 98% leasing rate and 88% of shops trading, including 60% first-in-city brands, it remains the district's first and largest shopping centre.
