The Art Centre takes the outline of Yu Mountain, the water of Qin Lake and the strings of the guqin as its concept, producing a form that stretches along the lake and reads as much as sculpture as building.

Roof gardens and viewing terraces at different levels are linked by a walking promenade, creating a rich sequence of public open space for the city. The building is conceived as a landmark that is both artistic and commercially viable — a city living room, and a new cultural name card for Changshu.

It won the 2020 OPAL London Outstanding Property Award, Cultural Architecture, Platinum.
